Frequently Asked Questions
Short answers to the questions we hear most. We are still being developed, so some answers point you to email rather than a program that is already running.
- What is Worn & Remembered?
- Worn & Remembered is an initiative being developed to turn meaningful T-shirts into quilts for older adults in care facilities, including hospice. The aim is to preserve memories while bringing comfort and connection.
- What is a T-shirt quilt?
- It is a quilt pieced together from T-shirts, so a collection of meaningful shirts becomes one warm, lasting whole that keeps those memories close.
- What is a wheelchair quilt?
- It is a smaller, lap-sized quilt made to suit someone seated, sized so it will not catch in a wheelchair's wheels or drag on the floor. It is a comfortable option for residents who spend much of the day in a chair.
- Who is the initiative intended to serve?
- Our focus is older adults in care facilities such as nursing homes, assisted-living communities, and hospice. We think of the quilts as comfort and connection alongside the care people already receive.
- Why use T-shirts to make quilts?
- The shirts people keep tend to carry real stories, from teams and trips to jobs and loved ones. Sewn together, they become a personal reminder of the moments that shaped a life.
- Is the initiative currently accepting shirts?
- Not yet. We are still being developed and are not collecting shirts right now, but you are welcome to email us to be kept posted.
- Can a care facility express interest?
- Yes. Care facilities are welcome to email us to learn more, though please know we are early in development and not yet running a program.
- Can someone express interest in helping?
- Absolutely. If you would like to help as this grows, send us a note by email and we will keep you in mind as the initiative develops.
- Is the program fully established?
- No. Worn & Remembered is still in its early stages, so our website shares the vision and gathers interest rather than describing a program that is already running.
