Our Mission
Worn & Remembered exists to help older adults stay close to the memories that matter to them. We are developing a way to transform meaningful T-shirts into quilts that bring comfort and connection.
Why memories, kept close
Memories are easy to misplace when daily life changes. A quilt made from familiar, well-worn shirts puts those memories within reach: something a person can see, touch, and return to. Our aim is to keep the stories that shaped a life present and near.
Why a shirt carries so much
The clothes people hold onto tend to be the ones tied to something: a city they lived in, a cause they believed in, a band, a family reunion, a long career. Sewn together, those shirts become a patchwork of a person's own story, in their own fabric, rather than a generic keepsake.
Who we hope to reach
Our focus is older adults in care facilities, including nursing homes, assisted-living communities, and hospice. We think of this as a source of comfort and connection alongside the care, family, and relationships already in a person's life, never as a replacement for any of them.
Where we hope to go
In the long term, we hope Worn & Remembered can grow into a wider network that brings these quilts to many more people. For now, we are focused on building thoughtfully, listening to the facilities and supporters who reach out, and getting the idea right before we grow.
